This edition includes the major writings on the Christian Kabbalah, ›Sal foederis‹ (1507), by Paulus Ricius, a distinguished Renaissance Aristotelian and humanist, as well as the extraordinary ›Dialog über das Apostolische Glaubensbekenntnis‹ (1514) (Dialogue on the Apostles’ Creed), the hermeneutically complex introduction to the Kabbalah (›Isagoge in Cabalistarum eruditionem‹, 1515) and the partial translation of Joseph Gikatilla’s ›Pforten des Lichts‹ (Gates of Light), a fundamental text of the Sefirotic Kaballah, as ›Portae Lucis. Haec est porta Tetragrammaton‹ (1516). This is a critical edition with a complete German translation as well as detailed introductions, commentaries and indexes. Once more it becomes clear that a great number of political, theological and uncovered treasures are to be found in the intellectual history of the Early Modern Age.
