Modern logicians will find valuable support in the works of medieval philosophers, for example in the ›Tractatus de suppositionibus‹ by Vincent Ferrer (around 1350-1420), which has been published in a critical edition. The subjects dealt with include the function of the logician, the relationship between logic and ontology as well as semantics, questions of intentionality and of logical necessity, all of which are nowhere near being solved.
