Jacobus Faber Stapulensis: S. Pauli epistolae XIV ex Vulgata, adiecta intelligentia ex graeco, cum commentariis

Of all the major commentaries on Paul in this decade (Faber, Luther, Erasmus), it was Faber’s work (1455–1537) which was published first. The preface alone is a sensation, »since in it Faber presents the fundamental principles of the Reformation five years before Luther’s 95 Theses« (Theologische Realenzyklopädie). The analogies to Erasmus are also important, since Faber as well drew on Greek and on the methods of classical studies.
