Wilhelm Weischedel: Der frühe Fichte

›Der frühe Fichte‹ (The Early Fichte) was not published until 35 years after the scheduled date of publication, since the outbreak of the Second World War was not exactly conducive to inspiring an interest in philosophical reflection. In the following years most of the copies printed were destroyed in fires. The unchanged work deals with the early philosophy of Fichte, who is described as a level-headed philologist, whose main achievement according to the author was dispensing with metaphysical speculations at that time. He did however accuse Fichte of making excessive use of these later on.
