K. C. F. Krause (1781–1832) studied with Fichte and Schelling in Jena and started his career in philosophy there alongside Hegel. His philosophy provides current justification for the protection of nature, women’s rights and a non-naive pacificism. Furthermore Krause is also regarded as one of the most important theoretical precursors of the European Union. The volumes are arranged systematically and according to the history of their influence and have been provided with comprehensive text-critical and contextual explanations. Each individual volume contains indexes and an introduction which provides information on the origins of the writings and their place in the compete work, on further editions, translations, the author’s personal copies and unpublished manuscripts as well as on Krause’s reception.

Reviews

Helmut Reinalter,
