On the basis of the characteristics of the ›Corpus Hermeticum‹ given in Part 1 (CP 7.3.1), this second part determines the relationship of the ›Corpus Hermeticum‹ to relevant representatives of imperial knowledge formations of theological philosophy and philosophical theology. The results are to be placed at the service of the first comprehensive study of the ›Corpus Hermeticum‹ in the field of tension between philosophy and religion in the imperial period. The second volume is devoted to the relationship between the ›Corpus Hermeticum‹ and imperial Platonism (Plutarch of Chaironeia, the Chaldean Oracles, Numenios of Apameia, Porphyrios of Tyros, Plotinus, Iamblichos of Chalcis).
