»Whether metaphysical truths in general, and in particular the first postulates of the Theologiae naturalis, and of morality, can be proven as clearly as geometric truths?« was the big question to win the prize in 1763. Since the award was given to Moses Mendelssohn and Immanuel Kant, the Academy had not really answered the question. By examining all the arguments in the prize essays submitted anonymously more precisely (in German, French and Latin), it will be possible to acknowledge the entire spectrum of the responses.
