A central concern of Steiner’s later writings is to prevent the dogmatic ossification of the intellectual and spiritual substance of anthroposophy by constantly redeveloping its content in new forms, thereby seeking to open it up to lived meditative practice. The series of essays published in this volume, »Three Steps of Anthroposophy,« »On the Life of the Soul,« and the »Letters to the Members,« also known as the »Anthroposophical Guidelines,« document these efforts.
