In his introduction to the literature of the Kabbalists, Ricius describes the dignity of the Christian Kabbalah and its orthodoxy in 66 theses. This is Ricius’ most important Kabbalistic work. For him, the 66 theses showed that and in what way Christian dogmatics and Jewish tradition belonged together. What was essential for him was the fact that these doctrines should not be played off against one another; he felt they should form a common tradition to complement each other. Ricius’ hope was probably based on the belief that Christian dogmatics would in principle be flexible enough to combine Judaism and Christianity as a Platonizing unified religion.
