This volume contains several of Weigel’s treatise. In them, he develops a mathematics-oriented scientific methodology that sees arithmetic (logistics) and algebra as approaches to rules for acquiring knowledge about arbitrary objects. This is accompanied by Weigel’s efforts to devalue conventional syllogistic, but on the other hand to interpret it mathematically. At the same time, his modified concept of »quantitas«, which he understands as the exact determination of any arbitrary predicate, makes possible the universal competence of the discipline addressing it (›Mathesis Universa‹). All treatises are based on a theory of »habitus« borrowed from scholastic aristotelianism, which analogously assigns the various sub-areas of logic and logistics to the »tres operationes mentis«.
