This volume contains various texts by Schelling on aesthetics from 1807–1814. The highlights undoubtedly include the speech ›Ueber das Verhältniß der bildenden Künste zu der Natur‹, delivered in 1807 at the Academy of Sciences on the occasion of King Max I’s name day, as a result of which the philosopher was appointed Secretary General of the Academy of Fine Arts Munich. Additionally included are documents on the Academy of Fine Arts like the popular ›Konstitution‹, programs of art exhibitions and other smaller texts that provide insight into the theoretical and practical dimensions of Schelling’s engagement with art, as well as Schelling’s review on F. Schleiermacher’s ›Weihnachtsfeier‹ (1806).
