e. Views of a Liberal Catholic Theologian on the Relationship Between Church and State; Developed in a Critique of Mr. A. Gengler’s Aphorisms on the Same Subject in the Third Issue of the 1832 Volume of the Tübingen Quarterly, 1834

The five shorter writings collected in this volume, which appeared anonymously between Athanasia (1827) and the Textbook of Religious Studies (1834), provide some insight into the breadth of Bolzano’s journalistic activity: In the two most extensive works, Bolzano critically examines theological issues (e.g., the primacy of the Pope and celibacy, as well as the relationship between church and state). In addition, there are two activity reports that Bolzano undertook to write as a member of the Royal Bohemian Society of Sciences, as well as a socio-philosophical treatise on the improvement of institutions for the poor.
