Friedrich Heinrich Jacobi: Band 7: Briefwechsel November 1787 bis Juni 1788

In this volume the focus is on Jacobi’s energetic dispute with the Berlin philosophers regarding the alleged crypto-Catholicism, which ultimately led to several essays for the »Deutsche Museum«. The commentary attempts to extract the references to this which appear in the letters and to provide these with the bibliographic references necessary for their understanding. One key aspect is also the correspondence with Hamann, who drew on his criticism of Jacobi’s approach to create his own contrasting concept and in addition however resumed his critical examination of Jacobi’s philosophical agenda.
