This commentary investigates and explains the numerous persons and topics that newly enter Friedrich Heinrich Jacobi’s field of vision and find their way into his correspondance from the period of his North German exile (Briefwechsel I,11). It offers material on the events of the First Coalition War, Jacobi’s personal circumstances, the new edition (1796) and the French translation of his novel ›Woldemar‹, and last but not least on his readings of philosophical and fictional works, especially on those related to his connection with Fichte, Reinhold and Goethe.
