Friedrich Heinrich Jacobi: Band 15: Briefwechsel Januar 1811 bis März 1819

In this concluding commentary volume, the letters, including numerous previously unpublished ones, among others from the editor Karl Johann Friedrich Roth, from Jacobi’s years in Munich are placed in context and explained. The thematic focus is on his publications and the reactions they received. The treatise ›Von den Göttlichen Dingen und ihrer Offenbarung‹ (1811) and Schelling’s reply caused a philosophical dispute that led Jacobi to resign from his position as president of the Royal Academy of Sciences. In 1812, he published the first volume of his collected works, which were continued posthumously until 1825, and for which this volume provides a complete overview and discusses reviews, such as that by Hegel. Extensive indexes complete the text and commentary volume and enable further research.
