Caramuel‘s (1606–1682) ›Grammatica audax‹ is a link between late scholasticism, the logic of the Renaissance, and early rationalism. The work consists of three parts: methodica, metrica and critica. 1. Methodica: semiotic principles of a linguistic theory, in essence still scholastically oriented, 2. Metrica: syllable theory (including Arabic and Hebrew material), prosody as well as the study of verse and writing, 3. Critica: along with logic, grammar is described as the basis for all sciences and developed into a »logical grammar.«
